Ayitey Powers showdown with Bukom Banku appears to be off after Powers refused to sign the contract for the non-title bout on May 16.
Both boxers were present at the media centre of the Accra Sports Stadium with officials of the GBA and fight promoters Box Office Sports on Tuesday when Powers failed to put pen to paper stating he needs clearance from his spiritual father.
Ayitey failed to honour the initial April 18 date with the excuse of the day not being suitable, the fight was then moved to May 16, 2014 and the boxer is again adamant to honour his part of the deal.
"Ayitey Powers presented a letter to me petitioning my outfit to put the fight on hold because he is not physically and psychologically fit to fight”, Alex Ntiamoah Box Office Boss told Asempa FM.
The fight has been much touted as the biggest ever to be staged in Ghana due to the expectation around it but Powers failure to honour the bout has angered boxing fans all over the country.
