Ghana U20 midfielder, Frank Acheampong, came off the bench and scored his debut goal for Anderlecht on Sunday as they beat Nana Asare’s Gent 4-1 at home, in what was only his second appearance in a Belgian Pro League match.
After putting up an impressive performance at the U20 World Cup in Turkey, coach John van den Brom seems to have the 19-year-old Black Satellites player in his plans as he gave him his debut appearance in a game a fortnight ago.
Acheampong came on in the 67th minute and capped a resounding team performance with the fourth goal in the 78th minute.
This was after goals from Sacha Klještan, Dennis Praet and Massimo Bruno.
Nicklas Pedersen got a consolation goal for the visitors in the 91st minute.
The former King Faisal man has already started his season by winning his first silverware, without even kicking a ball. He was selected in the team’s 18-man squad for the Belgian Super Cup clash with his countryman Bernard Yao Kumordzi’s Genk, which they won 1-0.
Acheampong joined Thai side Buriram United in February 2011, after he left King Faisal in 2010 and spent a year with Berekum Chelsea.
