Ghanaian and Evian Thonon Gaillard defender, Johnathan Mensah became the latest injury casualty in the defence department of the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars.
Mensah, 23, was pulled out during his club side Evian’s weekend game against Bordeaux on Saturday.
He confirmed his injury when he tweeted via his official Twitter account on Monday: “Results from tests on my injury reveals I will be out for 6 weeks. Bad timing but staying strong. Off for treatment!”
This will be a huge setback for coach Kwasi Appiah as he is already saddled with injuries to key defenders, Isaac Vorsah and John Boye.
The Black stars of Ghana meet with the Pharaohs of Egypt in the final World Cup 2014 qualification play-offs. The first leg will be at the Baba Yara stadium on October 15.
