Reports from the Baba Yara Sports Stadium have it that, Mr. Appiah Agyei, a board member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko football club was attacked by a section of the club’s fans after the league match between Kotoko and New Edubiase on Sunday the 29th of September, 2013 had come to an end.
Mr. Appiah Agyei was attacked by some of the fans over his alleged opposition to the chief executive of the club. A cross section of the fans came to rescue him from their colleagues to prevent what would have been a nasty scene at the stadium.
Mr. Samuel Opoku Nti (Lord Zico), chief executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko in an interview on Sika FM’s ‘7:30’ said: “The last thing we should do is to bring fighting and confusion into Kotoko. I will beg Mr. Appiah Agyei to forgive the supporters of Kotoko for attacking him.”
Reacting to reports that he, Mr. Opoku Nti incited the fans to attack Mr. Appiah Agyei, he added: “The last thing I will do is to incite fans to attack him [Appiah Agyei]. I am a very peaceful man, as was characterized even in my playing days”.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat New Edubiase by a lone goal in added time to continue their 100% run in the league, after three matches.
