Ghana’s national under 23 coach, Malik Jabir has called for Ghanaians to support Kwesi Appiah with respect to the players the national team coach has called to face Egypt.
Calling on the nation to put its trust in the coach, Malik said on Kessben FM’s ‘Midfield Action’: “Kwesi Appiah is the man in charge, he knows all the boys well and he is in the position to know their level of performance.”
The inclusion of veteran goalkeeper Richard Kingson has sparked controversy amongst football followers in Ghana. There are those who claim the goalkeeper is old, and touching on this, Malik added: “Goalkeepers tend to have a longer career compared to outfield players. Though he [Kingson] is grown, though he was out of action for some time, if Kwesi Appiah has cast his net wide and called him, I won’t say anything.”
According to records, Richard Paul Franck Kingson, who plays for Doxa Katokopias in the Cypriot First Division, was born 13th June, 1978 and is 35 years old. He gets his first call up into the Black Stars after two years of absence from the team.
