GPL Matchday 5 preview: Bechem to stun Hearts?

By Kwabena 'Onike' Boateng

All is set for the weekend's Ghana Premier League match actions.

It starts with the weekend's best pick on Saturday afternoon where second-placed Hearts of Oak meet  4th-placed Bechem United. This weekend's early kick off promises great action as the Bechem club seeks to derail the Phobians' newly found mojo and move up the ladder themselves.

Hearts are also going to be uncompromising knowing that a win will take them level on points with Kotoko at the top of the
table, albeit possibly only for 24 hours.

King Faisal will play Wa All Stars in a must-win match for both sides, having suffered defeats in their last matches. Especially for King Faisal coach, Carlos Alberto, who chases the win with pressure on him from the fans to deliver.

Liberty looks ready to compound the problems of Medeama when they clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Cape coast Dwarfs will have an uphill task as they trek to Kpando to meet Hearts of Lions. Prof. Mintah's men should at best prevent in-form Nana Egyir and they could get a point.

Third-placed Ashgold look favourite against Amidaus at the Obuasi Len clay Stadium but with the unpredictable nature of Amidaus so far, a surprise result would not be far-fetched.

New Edubiase got their first win during midweek but could be in for trouble at the Essipong Stadium where they meet Hasaacas. Hasaacas put up a spirited performance against Hearts during midweek but came home empty-handed. Having lost their last home game, they will try and amass all points on Sunday.

Winless Inter Allies may have to endure longer as they clash with the perfect Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Inter Allies could be wishing for a better fixture at this stage but a loss from this game and they just may be making a big claim for relegation this year.

Berekum FC and Aduana will battle it out in the only derby in this weekend's matches. Coach J.E. Sarpong's honeymoon seems to have expired with the fans after losing the other regional derby to Bechem. At least a draw could put him in their good books.
