CAF denies Kingson age-cheating claims

Share

The continental football governing body, Confederation of African Football (CAF), on Monday released a statement to debunk the age-cheating claims against Richard Kingson.

After his recall to the Black Stars after a two year absence, Kingson has come under pressure, and in some instances, a barrage of abuse because he is believed to have reduced his age.

Reference has been made to supposed records from CAF which support these claims. But CAF has come out to deny such claims and state that "the date of birth of Richard Kingson is 13 June 1978, and that reflects in all our official documents."

Below is the full text of the release.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) categorically dismisses report claiming its records on Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson has varied ages.

Indeed, there has been no such correspondence from CAF in that regard, and any such report lacks credibility and is totally false.

Our record indicates that the date of birth of Richard Kingson is 13 June 1978, and that reflects in all our official documents.
