President Mahama visits Black Stars in Camp

The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday morning paid a courtesy call on the senior national team, the Black Stars as they prepare in camp to meet the Pharaohs of Egypt in a World Cup qualifying play-off match.

The President, who was accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, was there to assure the Stars of the nation’s support.

“As the chief supporter of this team, the leader of the country, I came to tell you that the whole country is behind you,” he said.

He also promised the Stars of the government’s acceptance to increase their bonuses for the upcoming matches.

In receiving the delegation, team captain Asamoah Gyan, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked the President for his words and said he and his colleagues were happy to hear of the increased bonus. He assured the President and the whole nation of their readiness to win the matches and qualify for Brazil 2014.

Also in attendance were the GFA executives, President Kwesi Nyantakyi and members of the Black Stars Management Committee.
