Amidst reports that Ghana might go in for a foreigner to play the role of a technical director to the current Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah, coach Oti Akenteng, a member of the Ghana Football Association Technical Committee has said that there will be no need for a foreigner.

Speaking to Kessben Sports, the former King Faisal and Heart of Lions coach explained, “In my opinion, we [GFA] have supported Kwesi Appiah to come this far and I don’t believe any foreigner can perform better than what he has done. To be honest, Kwesi Appiah has improved vastly as a coach”.

Further assessing the Black Stars coach’s performance, Oti Akenteng added that, “Football has improved vastly with passing time; talk of speed, strength, conditions, technical advancements, tactical play and psychology of players but Kwesi Appiah has handled all these improvements very well and so why should we even contemplate of bringing in a foreigner?”

These suggestions of a foreign technical director rumored to be coming from some members of the Ghana Football Association is so because it is evidently clear that the Black Stars are most likely to make it to Brazil in 2014 for the World Cup following a 6-1 victory over Egypt in the first of a two-legged playoff qualifier.
