Kumasi Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways in the on-going league to maintain top spot by beating visiting Berekum FC by 2 goals to 1. The league leaders run to a two goal lead through Abdul Azziz Yussif and Yahaya Mohammed and held on after Berekum FC pulled a goal back via a penalty by Owusu Jackson in the second half. The late onslaught by the Berekum side could not yield the much needed equalizer however.
Second-placed Hearts of Oak aimed to jump for the top of the league and hit the ground running in the Accra derby. An early goal from Eric Kumi and another from Robben Gnagne ensured the Phobians are still only 2 points adrift the top spot.
Wa All Stars maintain their perfect home record by pipping Hasaacas by one goal. The Wa side scored in the 15th minute through Paul Asare and managed to keep the lead till Referee Reginald Lathbridge brought proceedings to a close.
The team of the week will obviously be Inter Allies. The debutants had been without a point prior to their home match against giant killers Bechem United. However, the Tema side produced a performance worthy of a Premier League side as they romped over Bechem United by three goals to nil, goals courtesy Fredrick Agyeman, Illiasu Fuseni and Gorkel Ahortor.
Coach Augustine Adotey had the best of starts a manager can wish for as his Medeama side beat Amidaus by a goal to nil. This is their second win of the season and Amidaus were unlucky to have escaped with a point after playing some fine football in the afternoon. The win will lift Medeama a place higher on the league.
Dwarfs also restored some pride for their fans by beating Kumasi King Faisal by a lone goal, leaving Faisal still at the bottom rungs of the league and their foreign coach Paullete still without an away win in the Ghanaian game.
Emmanuel Osei’s second half equalizer ensured AshGold left the Dormaa Park with a point and still maintain the chase on the title. The result also leaves Bashiru Hayford’s team, still the only undefeated in the on going league.
Edubiase also beat Hearts of Lions at the Bekwai Gyamfi Park by 2-0.
