Ghana Premier League Matchday 11: Kotoko lose to Ashgold, King Faisal on song, Hearts pip Amidaus

By Edmund Bobie

Ashantigold put a dent on Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s title defence with a 2 – 0 win at the Len Clay Stadium. With a humiliating defeat to local rivals, Edubiase FC, the miners went all out to fetch the maximum 3 points.

Marksman, Emmanuel Osei was on the score sheet in the first half, the striker has scored four goals in the campaign. Latiff Mohammed netted Ashantigold’s second mid-way through the second half.

King Faisal scored 3 against Edubiase FC at the Baba Yara Stadium. The win sends the Kumasi - based side a little above the bottom three. Prince Boateng scored in each half to give the home side a comfortable lead, Sulley Mohammed scored to make it his fifth of the season.

Fuseini Nuhu got a consolation for the visitors in the dying embers of the game.

The “doo boys” breached the fortress of the Lions courtesy Roger Lamptey’s goal in the first half of the game. Hasaacas thus have picked up 6 points in two games, an impressive record that is much appreciated by their fans.

Hearts of Oak managed a 1 – 0 win over Amidaus Professionals at the Tema Stadium. Owusu Bempah scored as early as the 5th minute for the Phobians. Hearts of Oak were impressive on the day despite missing the command and direction from Coach David Duncan.

The center back pairing of Nuru Sule and Robben Gnagne are gradually carving a good niche for themselves, after putting up impressive displays against a good Amidaus attack.

A Dennis Agyare penalty was enough to hand International Allies an important win over Liberty Professionals. The win will be Inter Allies second in eleven league games, they are still placed bottom with 7 points.

At the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast, visiting Wa All Stars scored through Samuel Adams in the second half.

FC Berekum saw off stiff challenge from the” giant killers” Bechem United with a 1 – 0 win. Obed Owusu scored the only goal of the game. Berekum FC will play Wa All Stars while BechemUnited play host to Kpando Heart of Lions.
