The exciting Ghana Premier League enters into its 12th week with interesting fixtures and a massive chase for top spot before the international recess and the WAFU tournament.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s lead is in serious threat after having seen the margin reduced courtesy their weekend defeat to Ashgold to just a point. On Wednesday, they come face to face with local rivals King Faisal in an encounter that will be closely fought. Kotoko are yet to lose at the Baba Yara stadium but with their dismal performance against Ashgold, King Faisal who seems to have found their rythym may fancy a big chance for an upset.
Hearts of Oak may be in turmoil off the pitch and without a coach, but on the field they have shown a steady resolve to wrestle the title from Kotoko. With just a point separating them now, they welcome Medeama who also sacked their coach earlier in the season and have found results since then. Augustine Adotey has impressed in the Medeama seat so far and his biggest challenge will be to take a point from Accra. Hearts look set for another win but if this will please the fans yearning for Duncan’s return will remain to be seen.
InterAllies had their shocking first away win in this year’s league at Accra Stadium on Sunday but their struggle to remain in the league will be tested when they host Ashgold . Inter Allies coach, Herbert Addo may know all about Ashgold having previously served as their coach and his experience may just be what is needed if they can overcome the highly performing miners who could go top of the league with a win and favourable results from Hearts and Kotoko’s matches.
Bechem United play Heart of Lions who suffered their first home defeat at Kpando over the weekend. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, Sam Yeboah and his cronies may have a tough battle winning at Bechem and a draw may be a fair result.
Both Wa All Stars and Berekum FC had wins over the weekend and as they meet at the Wa Stadium on Wednesday, it will be a thrilling match. Wa All Stars have lost only to Kotoko at home so far in the league and Berekum FC may need to go extra if they want to come away from Wa with a point.
Hasaacas welcome Liberty Professionals to Essipong Stadium after having secured a huge win at Kpando. A win for Hasaacas will seem them rise from the bottom rungs of the league but they face a fierce battle in Michael Appiah’s Liberty who could likewise shock the ‘doo boys’.
Miroslav Bogdanovic could not get to a winning start with his Aduana career but as his side hosts Dwarfs. The Serb may have ruffle feathers at Bechem but he led them to beat Dwarfs earlier in the season and his second meeting with with Dwarfs in a season is also a must-win for him considering the ‘volatile’ seat at Dormaa.
Edubiase, coming off the drubbing at the hands of Faisal at the weekend, may need to redeem their image when Amidaus come visiting at the Bekwai Gyamfi’s park. A loss for each of the teams could see a drop into a relegation threatened position.
