Just two days after being voted the best player of the season, Samuel Mensah has made a move from Swedish second tier side Östersunds FK to newly-promoted Örebro SK.
The 24-year-old midfielder has signed a two-year deal with the new Premier League side, according to P4 Örebro.
Örebro made it into the Premier League (Allsvenskan) after coming second in the Superettan, just a point behind winners Falkenberg.
“I just [want to] take this opportunity to thank Östersunds FK, my team mates, the fans and the staffs for developing me in Östersunds for the past 2 and half years in the city, I'm so grateful and appreciate everything,” Samuel posted on his Facebook page.
Östersunds FK's President, Daniel Kindberg, lamented the loss of Mensah.
“We are disappointed that Sam does not want to continue his soccer development with us and sad that we are losing family.
“This is how the football industry is and we are part of that system. We understand why Sam is leaving and we hope that Sam and his family will enjoy their next football station.”
Mensah signed with Östersunds in the summer of 2011 and quickly became one of the team's reliable players, helping them to gain promotion from Division 1 to the Superettan. He managed 58 games in the Östersunds jersey.
