The local Black Stars, this evening lost by a goal to nil against Benin in the GoTV WAFU Cup at the Baba Yara Stadium.

After beating Sierra Leone 4 – 1, the Stars went into the game as favourites, but were unlucky as Cedric Korea scored to hand the Beninious a vital win.

There were impressive individual displays from Abdul Latiff Mohammed, Micheal Akuffo and Theophilus Annorbah but Coach Maxwell Konadu’s team failed to make their dominance count.

Defender Kwabena Adusei handled the the ball in the 18 yard box and the referee had no option but to award a penalty to the Benin team. Cedric Korea stepped up and planted the ball into the roof of the net. Kotoko stalwart, Micheal Akuffo came close to leveling for the Stars in injury time, but he dragged his shot wide.

Benin have 4 points in two games, Ghana have 3 points and will need to beat Burkina Faso to progress in the competition.
