Ghanaian Players Abroad – 2-5 December: Karikari carries on, Kumordzi can’t stop

Agoronet brings you another comprehensive round-up of the activities of Ghanaian players abroad.

Asamoah Gyan, Bennard Yao Kumordzi, Kwame Amponsah Karikari and Davidson Drobo-Ampem all scored for their teams.

 

England

In the Championship, Jeffery Schlupp came on in the 78th minute as leaders Leicester City lost 1-2 away to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.

Albert Adomah's Middlesbrough went away and lost 1-2 to Derby County on Wednesday.

 

On Wednesday, Patrick Agyemang came on in the 78' as Portsmouth drew 2-2 with Jo Kuffour's (on in the 87') Wycombe Wanderers in the replay of their earlier rained-off League Two game on 22/10/13. It was stopped in the 46th minute at 1-1.

 

Italy

Nii Nortey Ashong came on in the 78th minute to help Spezia to a 3-0 home win over Ransfor Selasi's Pescara in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday. Selasi was an 81st-minute sub.

Raman Chibsah played in Sassuolo's 0-2 away loss to Atalanta in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.

Isaac Donkor came on in the 85th minute as Inter Milan beat Trapani 3-2 at home to progress to the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday.

 

France

In the Ligue 1, Jordan Ayew was a 90th-minute sub (on for Thauvin) as Marseille lost 0-1 away to Lille on Tuesday.

Jonathan Mensah (90 minutes) held his fort against Ibrahimovic as Evian TG recorded a famous 2-0 home win over PSG on Wednesday.

 

Germany

Kevin-Prince Boateng played 90 minutes as Schalke 04 were dumped out of the DFB Pokal after a 1-3 home loss to Hoffenheim on Tuesday.

 

Netherlands

In another replay of an earlier rained-off game, Kwame Quansah played the first 45 minutes as Heracles drew 1-1- away with Go Ahead Eagles on Wednesday. The earlier game played on 3/11/13 was stopped in the 20th minute at 0-0.

 

Belgium

Bennard Yao Kumordzi continued his fine scoring form, scoring the first goal in Genk's 2-1 away defeat of Mechelen in the Belgium Cup on Wednesday.

Abraham Kudemor played 69 minutes of Sporting Charleroi's 0-3 home loss to Zulte-Waregem in the Belgium Cup (#CofidisCup) on Wednesday.

Daniel Opare's Standard Liège were dumped out of the #CofidisCup after they lost 0-1 away to fellow Pro League side Cercle Brugge on Wednesday.

Nana Kwesi Asare helped Gent to a 3-0 home win over OH Leuven to progress to the Quarterfinal stage of the #CofidisCup on Wednesday.

Frank Acheampong's Anderlecht were dumped out of the #CofidisCup by Westerlo after a 2-2 away draw in normal time, but a 5-6 loss on penalties on Wednesday.

 

Czech

Isaac Sackey played 69 minutes of Slovan Liberec 1-2 away loss to Slavia Praha on Monday.

 

Denmark

Davidson Drobo-Ampem (90 minutes) scored a 5th-minute own goal but Esbjerg came back to draw 2-2 with AaB at home on Monday.

 

Romania

Sulley Muniru played the entire game as CFR Cluj lost 0-2 away to Gaz Metan Medias on Monday.

 

South Africa

In the PSL, John Arwuah (90 minutes) helped Bloemfontein Celtic to a 3-0 home won over Golden Arrows on Wednesday.

Rashid Sumaila played 90 minutes as Mamelodi Sundowns lost 0-1 away to Mpumalanga Black Aces on Wednesday.

Daniel Agyei conceded thrice, with Mohammed Abdul Basit coming on in the 58' as Free State Stars lost 1-3 away to Pretoria University on Wednesday.

 

Turkey

Emmanuel Osei Banahene played 90 minutes in Sanliurfaspor's humiliating 0-4 home loss to leaders Ankaraspor on Monday.

Kwame Amponsah Karikari scored the 5th-minute opener for Balikesirspor who beat Trabzonspor 3-1 at home in the Turkish Cup on Wednesday.

Toric Jebrin (64 minutes) and Shaibu Yakubu (81 minutes) both played in 1461 Trabzon's 0-1 away loss to Kayserispor in the Turkish Cup on Thursday.

 

United Arab Emirates

In the Arabian Gulf League, Asamoah Gyan's 79th-minute equaliser earned Al Ain a 1-1 away draw with Bani Yas on Thursday.

Emmanuel Clottey played the first 45 minutes of Al Dhafra's 2-1 away win over Al Shaab on Thursday.
