All Stars ended the first round of the Ghana Premier League with a convincing 3-0 win over Hearts of Oak at the Wa Stadium, ensuring they moved a step above the bottom three.
Defensive blunders resulted in all three goals conceded by the Phobians; Danis Aduse gave All Stars the lead mid-way in through the first half after defence men failed to clear their lines. Paul Asare got a brace to secure all three points for All Stars.
Ashantigold and FC Berekum served an entertaining goalless draw game in the final round of matches of the first round. Both teams failed to bury opportunities created. Ashantigold are level on points with Hearts of Oak, FC Berekum ended the round with 17 points.
Elsewhere at the Tema Stadium, Richard Yamoah’s late penalty gave the visiting Hasaacas a 3-2 win over Amidaus Professionals.
Daniel Gozar struck for Amidaus early in the first half after a good spell of possession, the home side kept pushing and soon doubled the lead through Isaac Amoah, Amidaus ended the first half the better side.
Veteran striker, Fredrick Quayeson pulled on back for Hasaacas mid-way through the second half, Theophilus Nyame capitalised on poor defending to make it 2-2. The visitors where awarded the advantage from the spot kick in injury time, Richard Yamoah stepped up and converted to hand Hasaacas all three points.
A Daniel Kodie’s strike in the first half was enough to give Liberty Professionals a 1-0 victory over Kpando Heart of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko ended the first half of the Ghana Premier League as leaders with 34 points following a 2-2 draw with Dwarfs at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium.
Dwarfs scored two quick goals through Fredrick Boateng and Richard Gadze. It remained 2-0 till Abdul Yussif Azziz pulled one back midway through the first half. Seydou Bancey finished off a Jordan Opoku effort to make it 2-2 for the champions.
Aduana and Edubiase played out to 0-0 draw at the Agyemang Badu Park in Dorma. Both teams ended the round with mid-table status.
King Faisal defeated Bechem United by 2-1 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. Wilson Andoh and Abdallah Yassir scored for the Kumasi based side. Augustine Ockran got a consolation for the visitors in the second half.
On Saturday Inter Allies recorded a 1-0 win over Medeama SC at the T&A Park in Tarkwa. Inter Allies ended the round 16th on the league log with 12 points.
