Princesses qualify for World Cup in Canada

Ghana’s Black Princesses, on Sunday qualified for their third World Cup following a 4-3 victory over Equatorial Guinea at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Ghana got rolling in the 8th minute, Wasila Diwura scored to make the tie 1-1; after Ghana lost the first leg by a goal to nil in Malabu. Coach Bashiru Hayford’s team kept fighting, but the strength of his opponents kept the game at 1-1.

Fatima Alhassan scored the decisive kick as the game was decided on penalties; Linda Smith, Priscilla Okyere and Edem Atorvo were on the mark for Ghana in the shoot outs.

Ghana and Nigeria continue to reign as powerhouses in Africa, after both countries will represent the continent at the World Cup in Canada come August.
