Ghanaian Players Abroad – 7-9 February, 2014: Essien gets debut; Waris, Agyemang Badu on target

Michael Essien finally made his outing for his new side, AC Milan but it was not to be too memorable. Abdul Majeed Waris rescued his side with a late winner, scoring his second goal at his on-loan side and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu also got a goal in Udinese’s win.

In the Championship, Albert Adomah came on in the 68th minute as Middlesbrough played a 0-0 home draw with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.


In the League One, Abdul Osman came on in the 89th minute as Crewe Alexandra played a 3-3 away draw with Bradford City on Saturday.

Kwesi Appiah came on in the 78th minute as Notts County beat Coventry City 3-0 at home on Saturday.


In the League Two, Patrick Agyemang came on in the 80th minute as Portsmouth drew 1-1 away with Exeter City on Saturday.



In the Serie A, Michael Essien played 90 minutes on his debut as AC Milan fell 1-3 away at Napoli on Saturday. Seedorf's first league loss. Muntari was an unused sub.

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu (90 minutes) scored the 86th-minute winner as Udinese beat Chievo 3-0 at home on Saturday.

Afriyie Acquah came on in the 68th minute as Parma a 0-0 draw with Catania at home on Sunday.

Alfred Duncan came on in the 71st minute as Livorno lost 0-1 at home to Isaac Cofie's Genoa on Sunday. Cofie was an unused sub.

Kwadwo Asamoah played 80 minutes as Juventus gave up their lead to draw 2-2 away with Hellas Verona on Sunday.


In the Serie B, Masahudu Alhassan played 90 minutes as Latina drew 0-0 away at Varese on Saturday.

Amidu Salifu played the entire game as Modena went away and beat Cittadella 1-0 on Saturday.



In the Bundesliga, Karim Bellarabi played the entirety of Eintracht Braunschweiger's 0-3 away loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Kevin-Prince Boateng played the entire game, helping Schalke 04 to a 2-0 home win over Hannover 96 on Sunday.


In the 2.Bundesliga, Baba Rahman played the entire game as Greuther Fürth lost 1-2 away to Kaiserslautern on Saturday.



In the Ligue 1, Andre Ayew made his return from injury, coming on in the 73rd minute as Marseille beat Bastia 3-0 at home on Saturday. His first league game since October 26, 2013. His last game was in the UCL against Napoli on November 6, 2013.

John Boye was on the bench for Rennes, who lost 1-2 away to bottom side Ajaccio on Saturday.

Jordan Ayew played 80 minutes as Sochaux were beaten 2-0 away at Lille on Saturday. He was yellow-carded in the 34th minute.

Abdul Majeed Waris scored the winner and provided the assist for the equaliser as Valenciennes beat Nice 2-1 at home on Saturday.



In the Pro League, Nana Kwesi Asare played the entire game as Gent drew 0-0 away with KV Oostende on Saturday.

Bennard Yao Kumordzi came on in the 88th minute as Genk lost 1-3 at home to Club Brugge on Sunday.



In the Super League, Samuel Inkoom played the entire game as Platanias lost 0-1 at home to Ergotelis on Saturday. Earned a 78th-minute yellow card.



Gideon Baah played 61 minutes of FC Honka's 1-1 away draw with RoPS Rovaniemi in the League Cup on Saturday. Honka top Group B.



In the Eredivisie, Christian Atsu played the entire game as Vitesse Arnhem drew 0-0 with bottom ADO Den Haag on Friday.

Shadrach Eghan came on in the 46th minute as FC Twente were beaten 3-2 away at PSV on Saturday.

Matthew Amoah came on in the 78th minute as Heracles played a 1-1 home draw with Cambuur on Sunday.



David Addy played 90 minutes as Vitória Guimarães came back but lost 2-3 away at Vitória Setúbal on Saturday. 39th-minute yellow.


South Africa

In the PSL, Fatau Dauda finally made his debut, coming on in the 68th minute for an injured Meyiwa; Rashid Sumaila came on in the 88th minute as Orlando Pirates lost 0-1 at home to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

John Arwuah played the entire game as AmaZulu drew 0-0 away with Moroka Swallows on Saturday.



In the Super League, Samuel Afum made his injury return, coming on in the 79th minute as Young Boys lost 2-3 away at FC Basel on Saturday.

Ebenezer Assifuah was replaced by Ishmael Yartey in the 79th minute as FC Sion lost 1-2 at home to bottom Lausanne Sport on Sunday.



In the Ligue 1, Harrison Afful played the entire game, helping leaders Esperance de Tunis to a 4-2 home win over Grombalia Sports on Sunday.



In the Super Lig, Jerry Akaminko played the entire game as Eskişehirspor lost 0-3 away at Galatasaray on Saturday.


In the 1 Lig, Richard Kingson kept a clean sheet, Kwame Amponsah Karikari played 79 minutes as Balıkesirspor beat Boluspor 1-0 away on Sunday.
