Kumasi Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways after a disappointing exit in the CAF Champions League with an all-important win over Medeama SC on Thursday.
Abeiku Ainooson scored in the 8th minute of the first half to face down a noisy crowd in Tarkwa. The champions have now opened a 7-point lead on the league summit with an extra game in hand.
Kotoko, now with 37 points are 7 points clear of Accra Hearts of Oak after 15 games, Medeama SC leaped frogged downwards on the league table.
There was a frenetic encounter at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Stadium but Edubiase prevailed, recording a 2-1 victory over home team Ebusua Dwarfs.
Richard Gadze on 6 minutes fired Dwarfs ahead for his fourth goal in the Premier League. Kwame Adjei restored parity in the 38th minute for the visitors.
Edubiase kept possession neatly but lacked incision and failed to create a chance of note after the equaliser. It looked to be heading towards a draw when Edubiase struck the decisive blow through Bismark Idan on the 88th minute mark.
