The Black Queens reached the final round of the qualifying series for the African Women Championship 2014, after a resounding 3-0 win over opponents, Burkina Faso, in Accra on Saturday to complete a 6-0 aggregate victory.
Burkina Faso put up a brave fight but succumbed to the pressure from the Ghanaian strike force led by Faisah Ibrahim; the striker put the host ahead after 22 minutes with a fine finish. Agnes Aduako expertly converted a penalty in the 26th minute to give Coach Yussif Basigi’s side a comfortable 2-0 lead in the first half.
The Queens put the game beyond redemption in the 79th minute after striker Agnes Aduako scored from close range connecting a Samira Suleman cross.
Ghana will need to secure a win over Ethiopia in their final hurdle; the qualifier will be played over two legs in the months of May and June.
