Abdul Yussif Azziz scored a last gap winner as the Porcupine Warriors came from behind to beat Istanbul 3-2 in a cracking game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Felix Addo opened the scoring for the visitors in the 30th minute when his effort beat goalkeeper Soulama in post for Kotoko.
The home side responded quickly through Aminu Mohammed in the 40th minute. Larbi Koomson gave Kotoko the lifeline with a very well taken free kick in the second half but the advantage was cancelled by Istanbul skipper, Eric Adjei.
It looked like both sides would have to settle for a draw as the clock ticked down in an exciting finale, but Abdul Yussif headed home from a Ben Adama cross in injury-time to boost Kotoko’s hopes of a double.
Elsewhere, Feyenord recorded a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over former winners New Edubiase.
