Medeama suffer defeat in Wa

By Edmund Bobie

Medeama SC missed the chance to make things less comfortable for second place Hearts of Oak as they were beaten by Wa All Stars in the outstanding fixture of the First Capital Premier League.

The Mauves could have moved into second place if they had secured a win over the Wa side and further put pressure on leaders Asante Kotoko.

The game started with both teams probing cautiously, less spark was seen as attackers of both teams failed to blossom, the game ended scoreless at the interval.

After recess the home side were handed the advantage after Joseph Jackson was sent off minutes into the half.

Micheal Mensah gave All Stars the lead in the 58th minute.

Medeama had a perfect opportunity to pull even but Godbless Asamoah dragged his effort wide Richard Ofori’s goal.

Paul Asare De-Vries wrapped up the points for All Stars with a superb finish to send him closer to a goal king award.

The win sees All Stars leap into 8th place with 30 points, Medeama on the other hand are in 6th place with two games in hand.

Elsewhere, Liberty Professionals were held by FC Berekum in the other outstanding fixture played at the Carl Reindorf Park.
