Elizabeth Addo and Samira Suleman struck a goal apiece for the Black Queens as they cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Ethiopia in Addis Ababa on Sunday night to move a step closer to the 2014 African Women’s Championship.
The Black Queens took the game to the host and dictated possession in the first half, their pressure was soon rewarded when Elizabeth Addo scored from a Portia Boakye lay off in the 43rd minute.
Yusiff Basigi’s side were well organized at the back thwarting Ethiopian attack on countless occasions.
Striker Samira Suleman steered a right-footed shot on target on the hour mark to make it 2-0 for the visiting team.
Ethiopia’s best chance was a shot that hit the crossbar after Ghana found themselves defending for the last few minutes.
Ghana will need a good result in the return fixture at home to secure a ticket for the Championship later this year.
