Ghana midfielder Daniel Amartey has sealed a five-year deal moving from Swedish club Djurgården IF to Danish giants FC Copenhagen.
After an impressive debut professional season with Djurgården which saw Amartey grab headlines, the 19-year old was highly speculated to be a target for English giants Liverpool. But the financially constrained club had to settle with the offer from the Danish club.
"We are satisfied with the terms of the transfer, the bid was the best we got. The deal provides a necessary supplement to the club's finances which is under pressure," said Djurgården's CEO Henrik Berggren.
Before his departure from the club, Amartey took time to thank the fans of the club. "I want to thank the fans for the support they have given me. God bless them."
The former Inter Allies player is currently undergoing his medicals and if all goes well, will be handed the number 18 jersey, the same number he wore in Djurgården.
