Spanish Club Rayo Vallecano have terminated the contract of Ghanaian player Derek Boateng. The Spanish side announced on their official site on Monday.
Derek Boateng will however continue his stay in Spain after he reached an agreement to join newly promoted side SD Eibar.
A statement on the official site of Vallecano read:
"The Rayo Vallecano de Madrid and Derek Boateng have reached an agreement for the termination of the contract between both parties. The player will play in SD Eibar. From the club we wish him well as his new phase begins".
The 31-year-old has had fitness concerns and this might have attributed to the termination of his contract by his former employers.
Boateng made three appearance for English side Fulham in the 2013/2014 season, he has also played in countries including Germany, Israel, Sweden and Greece.
He played for the Black Stars at the World Cup in 2006 and 2010 but failed to make Coach Kwesi Appiah’s squad for the just ended World Cup in Brazil.
