Andre Ayew will miss Wednesday’s final AFCON qualifier against Togo and could be out of action for close to two weeks.
The midfielder picked up the injury in Ghana’s loss to Uganda in Kampala on Saturday.
After assessment, team doctor Baba Adam confirmed the player has suffered a groin injury and will not be available for the clash on Wednesday.
Ayew’s injury will compound Coach Maxwell Konado’s woes as he will also be without the services of two influential players in Kwadwo Asamoah and Asamoah Gyan.
Despite the loss on Saturday, Ghana stay atop Group E and will need a good result against Togo in Tamale to stand a chance of qualifying for next year’s Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
