Champions Send Strong Signal


Reigning English champions Manchester United sent out a strong message of defending the title after a 4 -1 win over Swansea City a brace each from Van Persie  and Danny Welbeck  gave the visitors  a comfortable win at the Liberty Stadium. Simon Mingolet saved a Jonathan Walters penalty to keep the Mersey side reds in a gruelling win after Daniel Studrigde shot them ahead in the first half,Liverpool could have had more goals but heroics from Asmir Begovic  kept the margin at 1 -0.

Arsenal had defender Laurent Koscielny sent off as they suffered a 3 -1 home loss to Aston Villa on the opening day of the premier league season.Belgian striker Christian  Benteke shot the Villans ahead  after Gabby Abgorlahor  was fouled  by Koscienly  in the 22nd minute Benteke finished the double after converting a second penalty before Antonio Luna added a third. The gunners who will travel to Turkey to face Fenerbache in a champion’s league playoff game next week.

Evertons shared the spoils with Norwich City in a 2-2 encounter the canaries new signing Ricky Van  Wolfswinkel secured a point against Roberto Martinez’s men. Else where Fulham relied on a  Pajtim Kasami 52nd minute to secure a vital away win over Di Canio’s  Sunderland. A late penalty from Ricky Lambert  gave Sothampton a win over the West brownwich Albion, the baggies could have got into the game but Grahaom Dorrans saw his freekick wide off Arthur Boruc’s goal.

New entrants Cardiff City suffered  a 2 -0 loss in their premiership debut game former Liverpool player Joe Cole shot West Ham ahead in the 13th minute before Kevin Nolan sealed the victory for  the hammer in the 76th minute.

Chelsea will play Hull city at Stamford bridge  while Debutants Crystal Palace will play host to Tottenham Hotspurs.
