Tunisia Coach steps down after Cameroon loss

Former Orlando Pirates boss, Rud Krol has announced his resignation after Tunisia loss to Cameroon in the final phase of qualifiers for the World Cup.

The Carthage Eagles succumb to a 4 – 1 thumping by the Indomitable Lions in Yaoundé on Sunday. The result means Cameroon have joined fellow Africans, Nigeria and Ivory Coast for the World Cup in Brazil next year.

"I am leaving the Tunisian national team, I wish them the best for the future," he said in the post-match press conference.

"For this game, we had set up a new strategy. But it did not appear to be a good one with a first goal conceded after three minutes of play”.

He further stated, "At half-time, we reviewed our plans. It looked like it was working after the break with the reduction of the score. Unfortunately we conceded two more goals. Cameroon were better than us tonight”.

The Dutchman took over the job last September following the resignation of Nabil Maâloul.
