The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), has officially presented a bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2019.
The general secretary of the association, George Kasengele, officially filed Zambia’s bid at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
“It was a proud moment for Zambia and believed the nation’s candidature to bring the 2019 AFCON would be successful” FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya said.
“Through the vision of our Government and in particular the support of his Excellency President Michael Sata, we are able to proudly declare that Zambia is ready and willing to put on Africa’s showpiece event with new stadiums and infrastructure development’’.
He added, “We have indicated in our bid to CAF that we as a nation are united in this endeavor and together we believe we can be the best hosts Africa has to offer in 2019’’.
“Zambia is prepared; Zambia is committed; Zambia will be ready’’, He said.
Ivory Coast, Kenya, DR Congo and Algeria have all shown interest in hosting the competition in 2019.
