The USA will commence its World Cup campaign against Ghana in Group G on July 16 in Natal.
Jurgen Klinsman gaffer of the USMNT says the stakes are high and he will treat the encounter as a knockout game.
"It's pretty much just like a knockout game anyways", Klinsman was quoted as saying in an interview with Alexi Lalas on ESPN.
"I think obviously you know you don’t want to open up too much right from the beginning, but we want to make it clear stepping on the field that it's our game on that given day".
"We know if we can get the three points [against] Ghana we put ourselves in a very good position for the next game against Portugal in Manaus.
"Therefore it is very, very crucial we have a good start", He added.
The USA team will play their final friendly on July 7 against African Champions, Nigeria, before emplaning to the mundial in Brazil.
