Ghana Premier League Matchday 14: Kotoko on song, Hearts held, Hasaacas bounce back


Kumasi Asante Kotoko continued their impressive winning form with a 4 – 1 victory over Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The Champions from the word – go, were in total dominance, they Attacked! Attacked! and Attacked!  the defence of the visitors.  Seydou Bancey  put the Porcupine lads ahead following a neat pass from Eric Donkor, he scored again before recess to make it 2 – 0.

Kotoko continued to pressure Medeama in the second half; Jordan Opoku and Prince Baffoe scored a goal each to make it 4 for the champions.

Kennedy Boateng scored a consolation for the visitors late in the game. The win will be Kotoko’s sixth win in seven games against Medeama.

Sekondi Hasaacas got back to winning ways with a hard fought 2 – 0 win over King Faisal at home. Richard Yamoah and Samuel Afful were both on the score sheet for the Sekondi side.

Hearts of Oak were held to a 2 – 2 draw game at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium. Coach Mohammed Polo’s side started the game brightly with some good football, Kofi Abanga 18th minute strike was cancelled by Alex Asamoah in the 24th minute.

Front man, Emmanuel Allan doubled Aduana’s lead mid-way through the second half.  Hearts of Oak leveled through talismanic Winful Cobbinah late in the game. The phobians almost got the winner in injury time but goalkeeper Stephen Adams stood firm.

Elsewhere, Dwarfs held New Edubiase to a 1 – 1 drawn game at the Gyamfi Park. Lanky striker, Stephen Manu scored for the home team Edubiase FC. Dwarfs were rewarded the equaliser in the second half after a good spell of possession.

Amidaus Professionals own the bragging rights in Tema, following their 2 – 0 victory over rivals Inter Allies. The game failed to produce goals in the first half, both teams were woeful in front of goal.

Amidaus Professionals took matters into their hands and scored two quick goals through the Isaac’s ( Isaac Owusu and Isaac Amoah).

 At the Wa Stadium, Heart of Lions recorded a 3 – 2 win over All Stars. The home side were off to a flying start early in the game following a Paul Asare goal. The lead was soon short lived after Kwadjo Hassove scored, he soon scored the second for the visitors. Emmanuel Gyamfi pulled the home side level in the second half from a well taken effort.

Samuel Yeboah got the winner from the Kpando side in the dying embers of the game.

Bechem United shared spoils with 3rd placed Ashantigold in Bechem. Francis Dadzie and Augustine Ocran were the scorers for Bechem United, Paul Asare scored an own goal.  Lawrence Lartey headed his team level in the second half.


On Saturday, Bennet Ofori’s goal finally gave struggling Berekum Chelsea some respite against Liberty Professions
