Ghana has been ranked 60th in the World and the 8th on the African continent for the year 2013 by the BSWW Beach Soccer World Raking in its first ever ranking released.
The ranking takes into account performances of member Association in FIFA –BSWW endorsed competition of the last year.
However taking into account the participation of Associations at FIFA-BSWW endorsed competitions from 2009-2013 the Black Sharks are ranked 70th in the world but still remains 8th on the Continent.
Senegal tops the continental rankings with Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Morocco and Egypt completing the top five.
On the World stage though, Champions Russia are on top with former champions Brazil in second place and Spain are third with Portugal and Switzerland rounding up the top five.
The ranking can be considered as a significant achievement considering the fact that the Ghana Beach Soccer Team- the Black Sharks only for the first time last year participated in the African qualifiers for the Beach Soccer World cup in Morocco.
And with Ghana the only sub-country still running a league it a rise in subsequent rankings can be expected.
