The Africa Boxing Union (ABU) has declared 11 vacant titles after its recent rankings released to the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).

The vacant titles include Heavyweight, Cruiserweight, Light Heavyweight, Super Middleweight, Super Welterweight, Super Lightweight, Lightweight, Super Flyweight, Flyweight and Light Flyweight.

Information gathered indicates that the Welterweight, Super Featherweight, Featherweight, Super Bantamweight and Bantamweight titles are being held by boxers in the category.

According to the information, the Welterweight title is being held by C. Manyuichi of Zimbabwe, with Jasper Seroka of South Africa as the Super Featherweight champion.

The Featherweight and Super Batamweight titles are being held by Justin Savi of Benin and Alex Kabbore of Burkina Faso respectively whilst M. Metualy of Egypt is the holder of the Bantamweight title.

Joseph Kwadjo – Super Middleweight, James Armah – Super Welterweight and Emmanuel Tagoe are the highest ranked boxers in their respective categories, with Ossie Duran and Fredrick Lawson occupying the number two and three positions respectively.

George Ashie has also been ranked as the number two contender in the Lightweight Division with Jonathan Yartey as the number three in the Super Featherweight division.

The titles have become vacant due to lack of interest from the boxers and their managers.

The source revealed that, most boxers seem to be more interested in fighting in the United States of America (USA) and Australia and have little regard for the continental title.

The source added that most of the champions are also afraid to defend their titles for fear of being defeated.
